Motivational Book of the Month

I am considering changing professions and becoming a "Motivational Speaker."
Public speaking is not a problem. Is a particular knowledge of certain subjects necessary or can they be learned as you work in this field, or would that be too much work?

The most important thing to being a motivational speaker is being able to motivate.

If you can make people motivated enough to get up and go get to work and do the work well than you have a shot. Too many people don’t seem top realize that it’s more than just saying a bunch of stuff on stage and being "synergy" infused.

I have to write a poem for my english class, but I need some inspiration to get me started. Any ideas on where I can get inspired?

Think of a special moment in your day- laughing with friends, a fight with your parent, a smile from that cute person you’ve been hoping would notice you, a walk on a starry night, an online chat.

Write the first words that come to you. String them together.

If that is too abstract for you, here are some tricks that I use in my high school class room to start off my students:

Try playing with some words and see where they take you. I like magnetic poetry- I just put random words out and arrange them until they seem to work together.

Pick up a magazine. On the first 15 left hand pages notice and write down the third full sentence. (or whatever pattern you like). Play with them, rearrange them.

Here are some random ‘magnetic poetry’ words for you to play with (I just looked around the room and spotted these words on books, magazines,envelopes and the TV which has subtitles on at the moment if you want to generate your own!). You don’t have to use all of the words, you can add words you want, and you can change endings to suit you.

I like to take more interesting, sort of cute like pictures.
Ya know, the pictures you see that have a sort of warm, vintage feeling. Like something somewhat simple. But I’ve had a problem lately with ideas and inspiration. Are there any photographers that have some good ways of finding inspiration? Thank you ahead of time :]

Why do some people choose to do bad in life when they could do so much better? My exboyfriend would have a job and then loose it. He said he hated being apart of the coroporate machine and would way rather be unemployed. For the record he was a total pothead and had no motivation for a lifestyle outside of that community; if you know what I mean..
Why do so many people get ingrained into drug culture like this?

I have always loved creating art. I have times that I progress very quickly and have so many ideas and inspiration that I can barely keep up. However I also go through phases where my work hits a plateau and i don’t know how to escape from it. This is when I lack inspiration and don’t know what to make. It’s similar to writers block and It can be very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas how to get past a plateau period in creativity or find good inspiration?

Painters block, "plateau" is a usual state for all aspiring artists.
Music can be a good way to inspire you, my teacher at school once told me to go somewhere like a park and walk bare foot, close your eyes,visualize, use your nose and ears to smell and hear things to get a visual of a scene, this helps to find your inner muse.
Fair enough it sounds crazy, but it helps.

I know exactly how you feel I always procrastinate about losing weight. Once I start exercising I will go for a week and then stop and gain everything back. I herd some things that will help you but its strange (it works tho) When you weigh alot you are very depressed and its almost impossible to lose weight but if you start working out you feel better. I weigh about 220 im also 14 and im trying really hard to lose weight but i keep gaining… Other tips are: smelling vanilla can stop your craving for sweets, chewing sugar free gum can temporarily stop your hunger, the color blue is a very calming color. If i get bored i get hungry so I try to drink a sweet tea (low cal) to calm my hunger (and nerves). If you eat out of boredom you can always try to get out of the house. If its beautiful outside and walk to get some fresh air. If you have a friend take them with you to go walk its always better to have someone to support you. Give yourself rewards. If you worked out say 3 times a week for 20 minutes reward yourself with a book or a shirt you like never EVER reward yourself with food!! If you did bad a week then cut out a few hours of t.v. dont let your bad week make you gain weight by returning to food. Join a sport, go to a gym. anything is better than staying inside. I suggest taking vitamins too. Get out an mp3 player and put on some motivational music on it and start working out. The way im getting motivated is there is this guy i like and i want to look pretty for him next year when he goes to my school. Im also sick of everyone picking on me about my weight. and the fact that i dont look cute in my clothes. You can do it!! Just never give up!!
