Youtube videos, my friend. I haven’t been on a super long hiatus from guitar yet, but I’ve had little spells here and there. Go look up some videos of a band or bassist you love and see if that helps. When I look up videos I’ll sit there and go "This is why I’m playing, because I want to do THAT one day."

Listen to bands with great bassists. Find some songs of theirs and then try to learn them.

Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush would both be good starting points.

Ramble on is an awesome song for bass.

If your problem is skill, then try some lessons.

If nothing motivates you then you’re probably not meant to be a musician, or at least a bassist.

Honestly, just take a break from it. I had the same thing happen with the piano and when I tried to force myself into playing it, I hated it. I didn’t play for 3 months and then one day I felt like I wanted to, so I did, and everything was good again. What is that old saying… Familiarity breeds contempt?

People who get involved in Performing Arts usually do so because they enjoy the CHALLENGE of MASTERING A PHYSICAL SKILL and have the PERSONAL DISCIPLINE to do it.. the other, less talented and less motivated people Play air guitar, or jump around their parents basement or sing into a hair brush.. all to the applause of thousands that ONLY THEY CAN HEAR... and they dream about being Famous.

I don’t know but it freaks the crap out of me. Both my grampas died in the past year and everybody was kissing them and touching theirs hands and even encouraged me to hold the ones hand. I don’t think so.

I was having panic attacks just being in the same room.

After the body is buried or cremated, you won’t ever see it again. For me, kissing my mom as she lay in her casket was my last chance to have any physical contact with her. It was a final goodbye to her physical body.
