What are some good inspirational novels that you would recommend?

I am looking for a book with an inspirational theme. I don’t read much, however, one of my goals for this year is to read more often. Thank you for your answers.

How do you find inspiration for writing a novel?

Ive been trying to write a novel for so long, a good novel, i always start one and write like 50 pg and realize it sucks. In the mean time i just write poetry and short stories. I cant find any inspiration for novels, what do you do for ideas?

I always find it’s hard to stay inspired around the fifty page mark as well. Usually when I start to feel uninspired or bored with my work, I go back to whatever it was that inspired me in the first place. Whether it be a movie, book, poem, tv show, or song. I go back and revisit it to see if I can get that inspiration moving again.

Other times I look back on my work and try to find what is causing me to be uninterested. That way I can go back and change it, perhaps make things happen in a different way that leads to a different and perhaps more interesting outcome. If I’m bored with my novel, it’s up to me to find a way to spice it up and make it interesting.

If all else fails, I take a little break. Maybe I feel uninspired because I have a new idea I want to work on. So I’ll take a break and mess around with some new ideas. Perhaps write some short stories or poetry. And eventually I go back to my novel and work it out.

If you think it sucks, don’t look at what is terrible, look at the potential it has. Rough drafts are awful. There really is no way around that. So it’s best not to look back and feel discouraged about it. You have to remember the idea you had when you got it, and just hold on to all the grand ideas you had in the beginning. Think of all the potential your story has going for it. Forget about the quality and just keep going. Eventually you can push past that uninspired block, and find the inspiration that got you started on it to begin with.

Anyone know reasonably quick motivational methods that work?

I am really unmotivated right now and need a kick in the pants. Have tried hypnosis and it doesn’t really work for me, and CBT is kind of long term. Does anyone have any quick fix motivational methods or tips that don’t involve "just get off your ass and get on with it!" because that isn’t really working right now thanks to the New Year blues!

You could hire someone to slap you in the side of the head everytime you slack off..

Not just yell at you…but actually hit you… hard…. and then hit your family if you don’t harden up.

If that doesnt work then I guess you could get them to hit you with a lump of wood.

What are some good inspirational word ideas for tattoo ?

I am a hard worker, I am a super friendly person, non-religious and maybe there is a good inspirational word you can suggest?
Fake and gay ? I don’t think so.

when designing a tattoo for yourself it should come from your soul, and you should find something yourself of what you want on your body for the rest of your life Good Luck, They say it takes years to decide your first tattoo and 10mins to decide your second

How to get inspiration to write stories?

I love writing stories for personal enjoyment, but I can’t think of any ideas. I like to write adventure/romance/fantasy stories, but I’m having a difficult time coming up with something original and not too far fetched. I have a few old ideas, but looking back, they seem to outrageous and difficult to tie together. They also seem cliche. Should I just write through these old ideas and hope for new ideas as I write? Do you have any idea of how to get inspiration?

Maybe if you try to take these ideas and write quickly, no more than 20 or 30 minutes on each, you’ll get a sense on whether it’s worth continuing. You might end up saying the heck with it, or might realize that there is potential there once you get going.

Also keep your eyes and ears open for interesting things that happen around you. After putting down a few paragraphs, I liked it enough to stretch it into 9 pages.

Some woman in my office has an inspirational sign over her desk that reads:
"We must all stop manbearpig"

What the hell does THAT mean? And before anybody suggests it, I haven’t asked her myself because I don’t know her very well. She works in a different department, and some of their members get a little uptight sometimes over being asked about their personal business.

How do I keep my motivation up throughout the winter?

Last winter I completely lost motivation and it did affect my running. These days I’ve been running really well and I want to keep up the good work throughout the winter. How do you guys keep motivated in the winter?

I totally dont keep motivated, lol. I like the change of seasons and generally allow my body to rest throughout the winter and even let myself gain some weight. But thats probably not normal. I’d suggest doing what is most pleasing to you. If you like staying indoors then put a tred mill in front of your tv for the winter. If you like gyms then hit then up partner. Sometimes all that is needed is accountablility – find a running partner that will keep you accountable and you will do so for them. Also, last thing, perhaps a change in workout style would be wise. Why not use the winter to cycle, or row, or get into squash or somthing else that may interest you. Swimming is a mighty workout and will definitely contribute to your jogging/running. Come spring you may find that other workouts through the winter boosted you running capabilities ;D

Wattpad: How do you get the motivation to start writing your story?

I want to write my story but I can’t seem to find the motivation. Can any guys here who go on Wattpad tell me tips and tricks? How do you find the motivation to write? I’m deciding on writing crime and teen fiction, with NO ROMANCE (finally!). I have already laid out the plan of several chapters in my sketch book. But I seem to continually do planning instead of writing!

If you enjoy planning rather than writing, you probably have an issue of wanting your writing to be perfect the first time it comes out of your fingertips. Whenever you do end up writing, it’s never as perfect as you want it to be, which means planning gives you the feeling of accomplishment instead of writing. When you plan, there are no flaws because you’re just dealing with ideas. But when you write, you have the ability to fail, which can be scary.

You have to let go of the idea that it has to be good the first time you write it. First drafts are meant to be crappy. Let go of the idea that it has to be good when you write it. Just write!

I don’t know what category to put it in, and do the groups have chat rooms, can you post pictures in the chat rooms if they do.
p.s. Motivational Posters as in the ones with a black frame.

You’d have to scroll around the category to find an area which best fits. Yahoo groups have chat rooms, and that’s all it is, a chat. Pictures would have to be uploaded to the photo area or in e-mail.
