How come we try to get inspiration from two complete opposites?

Sometimes, when we're down, people will tell you, "Hey, we're all human. Deep down we're all the same and we know what you're going through."

Other times people will tell you, "You are unique. Don't let anybody tell you different. You are who you are and there is nobody else quite like you."

Seriously, what the crap? First I'm just like everyone else, now I'm totally unique? Which one is true? Which one should I actually take inspiration from?

Lol I'm just ranting about nothing…

you are unique, just like everybody else.

    Well on some basic level you are like everyone else, it's on the less basic levels that you become unique.

    So on the one hand, the encouragement of being like everyone else is, chances are, whatever you are going through, someone else has experienced it before, and hopefully surivived:D

    On the other hand, your being unique means that you have the chance to handle things as YOU choose, hopefully for a far better outcome.
