ive got enough creativity, inspiration and ambition, but i also dont want to neglect my kids to write. any tips you can give me maybe on time management or something?
also what can i do to get my name and my work out there?
I’ve been wondering that myself…All I can think about is writing my story – it keeps me up at night, wakes me up in the morning and keeps me going throughout the day. But by the time I get home from work and put the baby to bed…the day takes it’s toll, I’m exhausted. Sometimes I just can’t shut it off…I end up burning the midnight oil, writing until 2:00am then waking up at 6:00…When I was first laying down the outline of the story I would take my lap top to whichever room I was playing w/ the baby in. I would type until he got bored with his toys and started bugging me to play with him – then I would just shut it off and put it away for later. If an idea hit me I would jot it down in my notepad and write it in on the computer later after he went to sleep. I would also take my portable hard drive to which I saved the story and write during my lunch breaks. My husband was kind enough to give me some down time and I would use every minute of it to write – which is why the house looks like a tornado hit it and I have nothing to wear because shopping & cleaning just didn’t seem that important…Something’s got to give…you can’t do everything. Use the time when you’re not feeling too inspired or when you’ve hit a block to clean and take care of the every day stuff. And get your kids to enjoy some more independent activities, depending on their age, like drawing, reading, playing games by themselves…Good luck.
