Inspiration is a Lady
whose nature is untamed.
When She goes about ungoverned
with dress too often caught
in jambs of swollen doors,
like whores in evening gowns
who touch but for a moment
a dream beyond the reach
of daily dreary life,
Her painted face betrays
Her unaccomplished ways.
Interesting read, don’t know if I would’ve gotten the metaphor without your nudge. Creative is often rough, unrefined. The finished product though if good will go through any door.

Your poem spoke to me of the divide that must be crossed between the moment of inspiration and the creation of the poem, a thing of words and rhythmic texture in which the inspiration is, in effect, imprisoned. Still, without that imprisonment, artfully done, there would be no poetry, and without poetry, no inspiration…

So, you want me to come up with a poem about mishandling inspiration?
ok, here goes
The light above my head shines at times
But I’m too busy keeping chin up to see
The path is projected but i’m in the weeds
Enjoying a little ivy and getting covered in burs
Just before I black out positioned like a fetus
I notice the utopia that I missed
Won’t waste myself on contemplating bliss
Maybe next time when I get up
if I get up.

Inspiration is like any lady,
your muse her honey-do list,
and the longer the items thereon,
languish in deference
to other distractions,
the less inspired the outcome
of each and any one.

Metaphorically commenting, your poem is quite good.
Your inspiration lady is the equal of my ‘epiphany’ moments when I have the desire to write and do instantly.
