I need to find some inspiration ideas to write a poem about?

I have to write a poem for my english class, but I need some inspiration to get me started. Any ideas on where I can get inspired?

Think of a special moment in your day- laughing with friends, a fight with your parent, a smile from that cute person you’ve been hoping would notice you, a walk on a starry night, an online chat.

Write the first words that come to you. String them together.

If that is too abstract for you, here are some tricks that I use in my high school class room to start off my students:

Try playing with some words and see where they take you. I like magnetic poetry- I just put random words out and arrange them until they seem to work together.

Pick up a magazine. On the first 15 left hand pages notice and write down the third full sentence. (or whatever pattern you like). Play with them, rearrange them.

Here are some random ‘magnetic poetry’ words for you to play with (I just looked around the room and spotted these words on books, magazines, envelopes and the TV which has subtitles on at the moment if you want to generate your own!). You don’t have to use all of the words, you can add words you want, and you can change endings to suit you.
