I’m deciding to write a novel and I have a rough idea of the plot but i need some inspiration!
Type in something to google images (Like something in your plot) and look at the photo and pull inspiration from the picture. This really helps me (:

Sketch the details of your main potential characters start with looks, mannerisms, background, etc. Write the details down - or even draw them if you are a visual person.
Then take your main character or characters and imagine them in some new odd/out of the ordinary (out of your current work’s context) places or scenarios – anything goes! Write down ideas on what would have to happen to your type of character or how they would react to the scenario you placed them in.
This may seem futile, but it will help you flesh out your characters further and give you insight into what you may want to happen to this type of character in a potential story. You may even come up with multiple story lines and can see if one of them just seems to be the best or easiest to continue
Strong well-crafted main characters can inspire readers to love your story as well as drive you to write a great story for these imagined beings to be in!
This should get you going. Then you may want to write an outline of you story (a kind of synopsis).
MAKE SURE YOUR OUTLINE HAS A STRONG ENDING.
I have heard that John Irving writes his endings first, down to the last line, and works backwards. The idea of the outline is to give you goals as you proceed. Writing the ending first may give you the "spark" you now need.

im in the midts of my first novel. what i did to help me get started is took notes. i watched moives that were even loosely related to my topic then i took notes on cool points that i could put my style on. i suggest you do the same. if nothing else it will get you in the mood to write.

Analyze what you want to happen. Put together an outline; something simple that can summarize the whole story in two pages or less. Then start looking for real life instances that kind of go along with what you want to happen (mysterious disappearances on the news, etc). Watch some movies along the same lines, and google news stories related to it. Remember that your characters are the driving force in a novel, so try to scope out some real traits in people that you know and put them into the characters. Find pictures of random people for inspiration of their looks. Inspiration is personal, so just keep your mind open, and don’t try to over think it.
By the way, what’s the story about?

Well, I have written books before, and to get my inspiration first I thought of my topic and some great novels that have to do with it. Then I either read the novels or think about them. Sometimes walking or doing something peaceful helps. Then I figure out where I want to end up, and kind of write backwards.
You cant write a story without knowing where you will end up or else it will be all over the place.
I hope this helps!

Ugh, writers block, happens to me all the time. But thankfully there are a lot of things you can do to help. First, take a while just to think about your story, hours, days, weeks, for as long as it takes. When you know that you’re ready to write, try going to a quiet room, you might want to leave the window open for fresh air, or like me write in the dark
I usually play music while I write, sad music for a sad story, you get the idea. Try to keep the room clutter free, so you can concentrate on you’re story. Sometimes foods like chocolate ect help.
Best wishes!
But don’t force it, write when you want to, even if you get three words done, it’s something. Only write when you want to, and don’t get too stressed. Take it one step at a time, and remember, you have good people supporting you.
I hope this helps, and I can’t wait to see you’re name on a cover somewhere

When I write, I tend to have trouble filling in the "little moments" that build up to the big moments. I think this article has great advice for finding inspiration.

it may sound basic but i listen to music, sit back, and just let my imagination do it’s thing. try and visualise you’re novel, and if you like wat u see, try and write it so that the reader will imagine wat you imagine.

Dream. I have wonderful lucid, imagery-filled dreams, many os which have inspired stories and ideas. I try to jot down all the details i remember when I first get up and they are still fresh. Later, I read through and see if there is any certain thing that catches me attention, then I run with it. Whether it is hearing the same word over and over in every dream for a month (Sanctuary) or an image of a bizarre creature that cannot possibly exist (or can it?)…
there is usually something that grabs me and presents new ideas to me.
Cherish your dreams as a great source of writing ideas! then just write. It doesn’t matter if you write your own name repeatedly, sooner or later, the act of sitting and writing will get those creative juices flowing, and you’ll find yourself taking off into something new.
Good luck!
