I personally don't own pets. I think animals belong in the woods, not in my home.
There are a lot of people who own pets for companionship or utility. Is it possible that some people own pets out of a need to dominate another creature?
What's your motivation?

I just love my cat.. its not about dominating him. It's nice to come home and have someone 'meowing' telling you they missed you, or have someone to play with, or try and wake you up in the morning.
its really about getting a friend or companion more than dominating over the animal. Also, giving it a better life that they might not have without you..

Pets are cute and fun to snuggle with. Plus they love you no matter what which is nice.

I have a German Shepherd puppy, a Mini Rex rabbit, 2 ferrets, a cat, and soon I will be getting a baby Holland Lop rabbit. I enjoy having pets because I love having their companionship and their love. When I'm down they can make me smile by the silly things they do or by the way they cuddle up next to me.

I always wanted a dog just for company and because they really become part of your family

Have 2 pups— Long haired Chihuahua and a Pomeranian, both females. Dogs are known as man's bf, but to me their my babies. The 2 girls do as they wish in the house and out. I do get mad because I have a lot to clean up and they leave their toys out constantly, but I love them to death. They sleep with me and in the morning they run outside and play all day till I get home and take them inside or they start knocking on the door to get in (my parents are home). At night we also go for a walk, but they don't wear collars or leashes… we never liked our parents doing that to us so why should they suffer the same as I? Their my life, babies, and perfect way to know how children are..a lot of responsibilities.

I have five pets. My dog is like a toddler. She sits at the table when eating her food. She's smart and beautiful. She is my best friend. Losing her would be like losing my sister. One of my cats fallows me around every where. All my pets sleep with me. I read to them. Even if they can't understand my words, they like the sound of my voice. One of my cats loves music, she's always sits by me when I practice, or listen to a CD. I had a dog when I was a child that barked away a burglar. We never found the burglar. It may be true that a very few cruel people own pets to dominate them, but I believe that most people love there pets.

I just love animals. I have always been fascinated by them and love caring for them.
It's all about personal preference. Utility - no. Companionship - sure! When you feel like resting, they rest. When you feel like going for a run, they accompany you and love it. Mind you, I do have friends and family who are equally as complacent. Dominance - my dog controls me (lol).
They have always been a huge interest of mine and I cannot picture my life without an animal (or more) in my home. Every creature in the world deserves love.

my dog is about 7 and we have been best buddies since she was 6 weeks out…they know when you are sick or sad but they are also there to help support a cheerfull day but on a bad day they are there to cheer you up with the things they do. they also will be there at ur side when nobody else will or exercise with you when that other person cant.

It depends on what animals, but I dont like to say I own, I have as if they were my friends, I don't own my friends right? Well I have 4 dogs (2 adult Labradors, 1 cocker spaniel - the only girl in the house- and 1 English Bulldog Puppie), and many people think I'm crazy for having so many dogs, but I have a big backyard and every day after work I play with all of them, and once a week I take them to the dog park..I just love their company, they are so loyal friends.

i have6 pets atm; my westie-Skye, cat-Whispa, syrian-Skippy, two lop dwarfs - Sasha and Chloe, and horse, Herbie, and im getting my friends rabbit in summer cause shes moving away
solely kept for companionship and love (: i like the fact that no matter how down i am they can always bring a smile back each in there own way =]
im an animal lover and would never keep them if i thought they were better off else where, they're domesticated animals, they wouldnt survive in the wild.
ive been brought up around animals, and have had all sorts of pets. i dont keep them in order to dominate them, tho obviously, for my own good, as well as theres i need to let them know im boss. my house would be far to dangerous and chaotic if i let them rule, also it would put my life in danger, if i was to allow my horse to be the dominant one.
