It has always been my dream to become a motivational speaker, but I don’t even know where to begin! I don’t want it to be a dream anymore, It is going to be my everyday reality. I just don’t know where to start or how to go about it. Any ideas?
I’ve overcome a lot in my life as far as family matters, abusive relationships, and knowing who you are…
I have a whole theme, motto, all that worked out.
I’m just not sure where to start as far as getting the opportunity to actually speak.
I do help friends and family all around me, but I want to expand and reach out to the greater world.
If you aren’t already a professional speaker, start with Toastmasters.
Develop your own presentation and market it to corporations or associations who might be interested. Once you’ve done a few paid gigs, THEN contact your local speakers bureau.
Or, get all the education you can about your specific topic and bill yourself as a consultant … who also is available for speaking engagements, and then only market the speaking aspect.
You have to have some kind of niche, though, because there are so many motivational speakers. Will you focus on faith? Overcoming depression? Families? Balancing life and career? Productivity at work? You’ll need to know well before you join a bureau! Look up Tom Antion on the web, or someone like that, and get on their mailing list – they send you helpful info all the time.

Sounds like you need some motivation. Have you joined a speakers’ bureau? Google the term – you’ll probably find some in your area.
