What are some motivational songs to keep me going through labour?

I’m due to give birth in 2 weeks and after hearing all the ‘horror’ stories, I think some good pick me up music will be really needed to keep me going!
Can anyone think of some good motivational music for me to put on a CD?

I plan to Labor to Norah Jones. It is relaxing and soothing to me. I hope it works!

  3. I’m having my friend there that makes me laugh. I figure if I can laugh my way through the pain it won’t be so bad. I have a feeling I’m going to have a rude awaking. What about The Slip? They’re a good band they have some lyrics to there music but most of it is good instrumental. That’s probably something I’d want to listen to. Good luck on your labor.

  4. Just as every person is different, most labors are different. I tried music, reading, and tv to distract me, but it was not to be. I went 9.5 hours with no pain meds and them pumping me full of pitocin. I went from 4cm (where I was when I got to the hospital) to 7cm in all that time. It was the single most painful experience of my life. After that I got the epi and I gave birth 2 hours later in 45 seconds with 2 pushes. She is now 5 months old and the happiest, healthiest baby I know.

The music, books, tv… they didn’t help at all. Mostly the noise of them irritated me more than anything. The only thing that helped the pain was my husband pressing hard on pressure points in my feet and my neck. I hope your experience is better than mine! Not matter what, it’s well worth it. :-D GOOD LUCK!
